Meet the Team: Matthew Studley
President
In January 2026, Matthew Studley was promoted to President of HUB’s Ontario & Atlantic regions. He previously served as Chief Operating Officer, overseeing all commercial insurance, employee benefits and investment counselling divisions. He is a recognized expert in financial risk management, executive liability and the mitigation of specialty risks through insurance, alternative risk transfer options and insurance-linked securities.
Matthew’s clients include some of Canada’s largest publicly traded and privately owned companies, and he specializes in working with publicly traded boards, investment management firms, insurance companies, private equity firms and pension plans. He advises clients on corporate governance issues, investor lawsuits, regulatory investigations, claims management and more.
Matthew previously led HUB’s Complex Risk division, the Public D&O and Financial Institutions Practice, and before joining HUB he spent several years working for one of Canada’s largest asset management firms as an investment analyst with both retail and institutional investment management clients. He is regularly sought to speak at conferences and is frequently quoted in and has written articles for several international news organizations and insurance industry publications.
Matthew holds an MBA (with distinction) from Cornell University, completed his Bachelor’s degree majoring in finance at Bishop’s University and is a CFA Charter holder. He lives in Toronto with his wife and their three young children.
