Meet the Team: Matthew Studley

Chief Operating Officer

Matthew Studley is the Chief Operating Officer of HUB’s Ontario & Atlantic regions. In this role he oversees all commercial insurance, employee benefits, and investment counseling divisions. He is a recognized expert in financial risk management, executive liability, and the mitigation of specialty risks through insurance, alternative risk transfer options, and insurance-linked securities.

Matthew’s clients include some of Canada’s largest publicly traded and privately owned companies, and he specializes in working with publicly traded Boards, investment management firms, insurance companies, private equity firms, and pension plans. He advises clients on corporate governance issues, investor lawsuits, regulatory investigations, claims management etc. Matthew previously led HUB’s Complex Risk division, the Public D&O and Financial Institutions’ practice and before joining HUB Matthew spent several years working for one of Canada’s largest asset management firms as an investment analyst with both retail and institutional investment management clients. He is regularly sought to speak at conferences, quoted in and has written articles for several international news organizations and insurance industry publications.

Matthew holds an MBA (with distinction) from Cornell University, completed his Bachelor’s degree majoring in finance at Bishop’s University, and is a CFA Charter holder. He lives in Toronto with his wife and their three young children.
